Hi, I’m Bex.

I help midlife career questioners to get their groove back.

Your job used to fit, but now it doesn’t.

I've been there too.

Meet your Career Coach

Hey, I’m Bex.

I never set out to become a Career Coach. I just kept changing careers and realising how much of ourselves we lose when we stay in work that no longer fits.

Here's how it started.

I grew up under the weight of high expectations. Success was defined in a very specific way - straight-A grades, university, big career. Anything less was seen as a waste of potential.

And for a while, I played the part. I did well at school, but the things I really enjoyed - singing, acting, improv, being silly - didn't fit the version of success my family or teachers recognised.

When my grades started to slip, the reaction wasn't curiosity or concern. It was disappointment. I internalised the message that I wasn't enough unless I was excelling.

At 16, I left school. Left home.

It was an act of rebellion but I needed to find a different path, even if noone else understood it. I worked at supermarkets, a bookshop and eventually an optometrist, becoming an optician and managing stores across New Zealand.

Moving to London at 21, I landed another optician gig - but it was awful! It had me questioning everything and longing for home. Then a (very) tipsy conversation at a birthday party led to an unexpected opportunity: my first HR role at a major UK investment firm.

Suddenly I was wording in a heritage-listed building around the corner from Buckingham Palace, advising on policies I'd Googled the week before. Imposter syndrome? Loads of it! But I kept saying yes, again and again. And I grew.

What followed was over a decade in recruitment, HR and leadership development, first in the UK and then in Australia (after I followed a boy across the world... the boy didn't last, but the move did!)

Arriving in Melbourne, I assumed my UK experience would translate easily. It didn’t. I struggled to find work and had to rethink my strategy completely. Eventually, I pivoted into agency recruitment, using it as a stepping stone back into HR.

I rebuilt my career from the ground up - working across industries, designing talent strategies, delivering training and leading people-focused change. I recruited hundreds of people and learned how to navigate complex, evolving workplaces from the inside.

Then came motherhood. And everything shifted.

I couldn't go back to business as usual. My identity felt splintered and what I wanted from work had changed. Oh, and hello having a second baby mid-pandemic!

In between feeds and lockdowns, I enrolled in career development studies, partly to make sense of my own shift, and partly thinking I’d take those insights back into HR. Instead, I found myself coaching friends, then strangers, and then clients. I helped them reconnect with their value, reshape their stories and take courageous steps forward.

And I realised: this isn't just something I'm good at. It's something I want to do.

And so here I am.

Career change isn't just about jobs. It's about identity.

Trusting yourself. Grieving the old version of you. Embracing the new one. Growing, and knowing how to move forward when you're not sure what you want yet.

That's what I help my clients do.
